FAQs

CURATED TO PROVIDE: Authenticity.

What is a Smile Edit?

A Smile Edit is a curated cosmetic process designed around your entire face, not just individual teeth. It blends photography, digital planning, and modern materials to create a result that fits your structure, expression, and personality. It is not about trends. It is about alignment.

How is a Smile Edit different from traditional cosmetic dentistry?

Traditional cosmetic dentistry often focuses on individual procedures. A Smile Edit is comprehensive and collaborative. Every decision is guided by facial harmony, long term function, and restraint. We refine. We do not impose.

Am I a candidate for veneers or a full Smile Edit?

You may be a candidate if your gums are healthy, you want to improve shape, color, or alignment, and you are committed to good home care. Your bite, enamel, and existing dental work are carefully evaluated before recommendations are made.

Do I need veneers to do a Smile Edit?

Not always. Your plan may include:

  • Conservative reshaping
  • Gum contouring
  • Whitening
  • Invisalign
  • Minimal or no prep veneers

The goal is always the best result with the least intervention.

What happens during a Smile Edit consultation?

Your consultation includes:

  • A thorough smile and facial analysis
  • A discussion of your goals and concerns
  • Digital planning and treatment options
  • A clear explanation of what is recommended and why

There is no pressure. Only education and collaboration.

What if I am unsure about committing?

That is completely okay. Many patients begin with a consultation simply to understand their options. A Smile Edit is about informed, confident decisions.

What if I have had negative dental experiences in the past?

Your comfort and trust matter here. Everything is explained clearly. Care is delivered thoughtfully. You will never be rushed or pressured.

Will my teeth be shaved down for veneers?

Whenever possible, minimally invasive and near prepless techniques are used. In cases where reshaping is necessary for strength or bite correction, it is carefully planned and fully discussed.

What if I am unhappy with the result?

This transition matters. It can take time to fully see and feel your new smile. A seven month adjustment period is recommended to allow you to settle into the final result. We take your satisfaction seriously and remain committed to your long term outcome.

Are treatments painful?

Most Smile Edit treatments are minimally invasive and comfortable. Local anesthesia is used when appropriate. Patients are often surprised by how smooth the process feels.

How long does treatment take?

Timelines vary depending on the service:

  • Minor refinements may be completed in one visit
  • Veneer cases require multiple appointments
  • Invisalign timelines vary based on movement needed

Your timeline will be clearly outlined during your consultation.

Do you offer second opinions?

Yes. Dr. Schick provides detailed second opinions on cosmetic and restorative treatment plans, including evaluation of previous work and alternative options.

Are services refundable?

All services are custom designed and begin the moment your appointment is reserved. Because clinical time, planning, and materials are allocated specifically for you, services are non refundable.

Is a down payment required?

Yes. A non refundable down payment is required for all services. The amount depends on your customized treatment plan. A typical down payment is $5,000 and will be discussed during your in office Smile Mapping consultation.

Do you offer financing?

We partner with Cherry for financing assistance. Options can be reviewed during your consultation.

Why does The Smile Edit not accept dental insurance?

Insurance is structured around procedure codes, not individualized design. To deliver highly customized care without compromise, we work directly with our patients rather than third party decision makers.

What makes The Smile Edit experience different?

Every smile is collaborative. Your personality, expression, and lifestyle guide the design. Rather than applying a formula, Dr. Schick approaches each smile as a refined process of editing.
The result feels natural. Personal. Intentional.
